Oh hey guys. I made you something. It’s a map of Virginia stuffed with interesting / historical / weird / scenic goodness for your daytripping pleasure.
There are already lots of other great resources around for finding stuff to do in Virginia. But my problem wasn’t that I couldn’t think of great things to do, it was that there are too many things to do and I had a hard time narrowing it down for a one-day trip. If you can only drive a certain distance away from home, you want to try to keep your destinations for the day within the same area. There was just no tool to identify close-together attractions easily and to get driving directions easily, so I thought I would start plotting things out on a Google Map. I’ve been working on it for about a month, during lots of nights, weekends, and noisy thunderstorms. I still want to go through and add some basic information to each point so that you can get a general idea of how much something costs, what it’s about, and when it’s open without even leaving the map. And I have a ton of wineries to add. But for now I need a tiny little break from mapping.
Now don’t EVER let me hear you say there’s “nothing to do.”
sweet.

There are quite a few things on here in Downtown Fredericksburg, within walking distance of UMW. Maybe you could check...
sweet. definitely a solid jumping off point for what could be a really legit crowd sourced info map.
